Face mask
Garter stitch / km. Garter stitch is often knitted as follows: The stitch at the end of each row is knitted. At the beginning of each row, the stitch is slipped purlwise with the yarn in front of the stitch.

German Short Rows
Technique for turning to get a nice neckline. With this technique, you stop in the middle of a needle (when stated in the pattern), turn, and knit back. When you stop to turn and knit back, place the stitch onto the opposite needle and pull the yarn behind, so the stitch gets «two legs.» This prevents the work from having holes and provides an invisible turning technique.
When you go to knit past the turn next time, you will knit these 2 «legs» together.

Fall masks to the right and left
Knit 2 together.
To decrease on the left: Slip 2 stitches purlwise, one and one. Place them back on the left needle, and purl these two stitches together, twisted.

Increase right: Take the left needle under the yarn from behind and knit the yarn straight.

• 1mh = Right-leaning increase: Lift the strand between stitches from behind, knit right
• increase 1mv = increase: Lift the strand between the stitches from the front, knit the lifted loop through the front, purl wise
• echo 1muv Knit first in the stitch on the needle, then in the stitch below it (easiest in the back of the needle).
• Oh, my First knit in the underlying stitch (behind the needle), then in the stitch on the needle
• 2 miles Knit in both the front and back loop of the same stitch
• 3 miles = Knit 1, purl 1, knit 1 in the same stitch or 1 row, 1 knit, 1 row in the same stitch

Braids / Twists

• Twisted Left / Left Crossed 1x1 / Mini Cable Knit into the front of the 2nd stitch, then the front of the 1st stitch, slk2tog
• Right braid 2×2 = Slip 2 sts onto cable needle and hold at back of work, knit 2, knit stitches from cable needle
• Left fold 2x2 = Slip 2 stitches onto a stitch holder in front of the work, knit 2, knit the stitches from the stitch holder

ENGLISH WORDS AND ABBREVIATIONS IN KNITTING – GLOSSARY

• ssk = slip, slip, knit: Slip the next two stitches as if to knit, slip them back to the left needle, and knit them together through the back loop.
• sssk = over, but with three stitches
• ssp = slip, slip, knit: Like ssk, but knitted twisted purl together
• sssp = over, but with three stitches
