Edge mask
Edge sts / km. Edge stitches are often knitted like this: The stitch at the end of each row is knitted. At the beginning of each row, the stitch is slipped off the needle with the yarn in front of the stitch.

Short rows (shortened rows / turning stitches)

  • gsr = German Short Rows
  • dblm = double stitch created by turning with gsr

German Short Rows
Turning technique to get a fin on the neckline, back and pants. With this technique, you stop in the middle of a row (when stated in the pattern), turn, and knit back. When you stop to turn and knit back, slip the stitch onto the opposite row and pull the thread behind, so that the stitch has "two feet". This prevents holes in the work, and creates an invisible turning technique.
When you knit past the turning point next time, knit these 2 "feet" together.

Decrease stitches on the right and left:
Decrease right: Knit 2 stitches together.
Left decrease: Take 2 stitches off the needle as if to knit, 1 and 1. Place them back on the left needle, and knit the stitches together twisted.

  • 3rsm (variant 2) = Slip the first two stitches as if to knit them together, knit 1, pull the slipped stitches over

Inc-v = increase left: take the left needle under the thread from the front and knit the thread twisted
Inc-h = increase right: Bring the left needle under the thread from the back and knit the thread.
