Pop Merino
100 % extra-fine merino wool. It’s super soft and feels comfortable against the skin, and it’s easy to knit with. Merino wool breathes well, is durable, and retains its shape well over time.
The yarn is produced with consideration for both the environment and animal welfare. It is free of harmful chemicals and comes from sheep that have not been subjected to mulesing. The wool is certified according to the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS), and it is also approved according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100. Additionally, the wool is traceable, meaning it can be followed back to its source.
What is extra-fine merino wool?

Organic cotton is a sustainable choice, and Cuddle Me Cotton is one of our most popular options for warm and comfortable clothing without synthetic fabrics. Organic doesn't always mean something is eco-friendly, but GOTS certification does.
GOTS stands for «Global Organic Textile Standard» and is an international certification standard.
GOTS requires a minimum of 70 % organically grown fibers to qualify for certification. All of our products are made with 100% certified organic cotton.
Did you know there's a big difference between organic and «regular» cotton? When you choose a GOTS-certified product, you're contributing to cotton production that uses considerably less water and no chemicals that harm soil and air. Cotton production is one of the worst environmental offenders, and by us producers and our customers making environmentally conscious choices, we can contribute positively to this industry.
The yarn contains no animal fibers.What is Pima cotton?
Pima is a longer fiber than other cotton types, resulting in a smooth and soft yarn of good quality that also wrinkles little. It's considered one of the finest cotton fibers in the world. Breathable, comfortable, and durable, it feels light and soft against the skin. Very good for knitting, it creates soft, comfortable garments that hold up well with wear and washing.The yarn is not mercerized (cotton that has been treated with lye (sodium hydroxide)).

Fluff mohair consists of 80 % kid mohair, 11 % merino wool, and 9 % polyamide.
The perfect match of mohair and merino wool – the blend provides extra resilience and volume. Chunky, beautiful yarn that sheds very little. Ideal yarn for thick needles. Soft to wear and delightful to knit with! Gives a delicate and fluffy result. The mohair yarn is soft, silky, and airy. Keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer. Perfect in combination with merino wool, it will feel softer than pure mohair yarn, with the same fluffy appearance. To hold the yarn together, it is spun around a polyamide thread that keeps the yarn cohesive and provides extra durability and strength.
Our Fluff Mohair yarn is becoming more and more popular – it has incredibly good stability and sheds very little compared to many thick mohair yarns. Additionally, only the finest mohair is used in our yarn, kid mohair.

BonBon brushed alpaca
BonBon brushed alpaca consists of 80 % alpaca, 16 % fine merino wool, and 4 % nylon (the yarn). A light, airy yarn with a brushed surface.
BonBon yarn – a super soft and fluffy yarn in a blend of brushed alpaca and merino wool. Lightweight, airy, and goes a long way.
The yarn is durable and soft, and holds its shape and form well. BonBon is brushed and held together by a strong thin nylon thread.Alpaca is three times warmer than regular wool, with the same good properties. It is breathable and thus keeps you warm on cool days and cool on warm days.
BonBon is available in both hand-dyed and solid-colored varieties.

What is brushed alpaca?
Brushed alpaca is a yarn made mainly from alpaca wool, where the fibers are brushed from the thread to give an extra soft, airy, and fluffy surface. The result is a feather-light and fuzzy yarn with an appearance reminiscent of mohair, but often less «hairy.».
When merino wool is added, as in our BonBon yarn Brushed Alpaca, it results in a soft, light, and airy yarn with a calm, fluffy appearance. Wild Wool consists of 38% alpaca, 37% fine highland wool, and 25% nylon (the thread the yarn is spun around).

Sustainability, climate, and environment

The climate crisis has become a reality, and Hipknitshop wants to take responsibility for contributing to a more sustainable world. Our goal for the future is to contribute to a more sustainablereduced climate and environmental impact.
GOAL
Our goal is for non-natural fibers such as nylon and polyamide to be recycled. Recycling fibers can actually result in a smaller carbon footprint than producing new ones, even for fibers considered environmentally friendly. Polyamide gives garments a longer lifespan and thus less waste. You don't need to buy new ones as often. The garments are more elastic, lightweight, and durable. Polyamide dries quickly and does not require high heat to become clean, has less water absorption which requires less energy for drying and shorter washing time.
Our goal is to use recycled polyamide (e.g., ECONYL® from old fishing nets and textile waste). This will reduce the need for new plastic production and contribute to a circular economy.
Most of our yarns are 100 % natural. Some varieties contain nylon or polyamide. There are a number of advantages to using these materials in the yarn.
What is polyamide and nylon?
Polyamide is not a natural fiber, but it has many advantages, including increased durability, more elasticity and formability, and easier maintenance. Nylon is a type of polyamide. It is easier to wash and results in lightweight garments that remain free of bacteria and mold. We strive to be more environmentally conscious and must constantly weigh the pros against the cons. Our goal is to be able to use recycled nylon in the future.Polyamide/nylon makes yarn and clothing more durable and resistant to wear, holes, and pilling. They often have a longer lifespan. This means you don't need to knit or buy new items as often, contributing to less resource consumption over time.
HipKnitShop is known for its extensive color palette and clear, beautiful colors. All yarn colors are completely unique – HipKnitShop develops its own colors for its yarns. In addition to all the colorful yarns, we also have a large selection of neutral, muted colors. With us, you will find yarns in neutral colors, earthy tones, pastel colors, autumn colors, dark colors, and vibrant colors.
In addition, we offer a variety of exciting hand-dyed yarns in both thicker wool (Hip Wool) and merino wool (Pop Merino).
