    steps-image

100% GOTS certified pima cotton. A soft and light yarn, perfect for children's clothing and summer garments.

Organic cotton is a sustainable choice, and Cuddle Me Cotton is one of our most popular options for warm and comfortable clothing without synthetics. Organic doesn't always mean something is eco-friendly, but GOTS certification does.

  • Sustainability, climate and environment

"Our vision is to contribute to a more sustainable and ethical textile world. We want yarns with full traceability, and manufacturers who have close contact with the farms where the fibers are sourced. We ensure animal welfare, fair working conditions and high quality. Production should be done with consideration for both people and the environment. Through carefully selected fibers and long-term partnerships with responsible manufacturers, we will create yarns you can use with a clear conscience."

The climate crisis has become a reality and Hipknitshop wants to take responsibility for contributing to a more sustainable world. Our goal for the future is to contribute to rreduced climate and environmental impact.

    Measurements

Our goal is for non-natural fibers such as nylon and polyamide to be recycled.  Recycling fibers can actually have a smaller C2 footprint than producing new ones, even fibers that are considered environmentally friendly. Polyamide gives the garments a longer lifespan and thus less waste. You don't have to buy new ones as often. The garments are more elastic, lightweight and durable. Polyamide dries quickly and does not need high heat to get clean, has less water absorption which requires less energy for drying and shorter washing time.

Our goal is to use recycled polyamide (e.g. ECONYL® from old fishing nets and textile waste). This reduces the need for new plastic production and contributes to a circular economy.

Most of our yarns are 100% natural. In some qualities it is nylon or polyamide. There are a number of advantages to using this in the yarn.

    What are polyamide and nylon?
Polyamide is not a natural fiber but it has many advantages such as increased durability, more elastic and malleable, easier to maintain. Nylon is a type of polyamide. It is easier to wash and provides lightweight garments that stay free of bacteria and mold. We are working to be more environmentally conscious and must constantly weigh the advantages against the disadvantages. Our goal is to be able to use recycled nylon in the future.

Polyamide/nylon makes yarn and clothing more durable and resistant to wear, holes and pilling. They often have a longer lifespan. This means you don't have to knit or buy new ones as often, which contributes to less resource use over time.
